Let’s dive into what makes this ship unique and why it deserves a great BEST Rated score. The Boardwalk and Entertainment One of the standout features of the Oasis of the Seas is the Boardwalk neighborhood , reminiscent of classic seaside piers. It's lined with casual eateries, fun attractions, and plenty of seating areas to enjoy the fresh sea breeze. A personal favorite of our family is the Dog House , a hot dog stand serving up a variety of gourmet sausages and hot dogs with all the fixings. It’s the perfect spot for a quick bite while taking in the atmosphere before a show. The Ice Show Another entertainment highlight is the Ice Show , which takes place at Studio B, the ship's ice-skating rink. This thrilling performance combines artistry, music, and acrobatics, all while the skaters glide across the ice, often mere feet from the audience. The cool, indoor setting offers a nice reprieve from the sun, as well. AquaTheater Speaking of entertainment, let’s not forget the AquaTheater  at the rear of the ship, offering stunning ocean views during the day and an extraordinary performance venue at night. The daring dives, synchronized swimming, and aerial stunts performed here are nothing short of spectacular. This one kept the family mesmerized every time they saw it. With its blend of exciting entertainment options, innovative design, and top-tier dining, While it offers an incredible experience for families, couples, and solo travelers alike, there are still a few areas, like crowd control during peak times and some dining venues, that could use minor tweaks. For me, this lobby is hands down the best spot to soak in the magic when checking into the Disney bubble. A Tropical Oasis Before you step into the Polynesian’s lobby, you're transported to a tropical paradise. The lush greenery, vibrant flowers, and tiki-style décor instantly set the tone for a relaxing, laid-back vacation. The air is filled with a subtle tropical scent, and the sounds of waterfalls cascading nearby complete the island vibe. There’s something so refreshing about entering this beautiful, open-concept space where nature meets Polynesian culture. Meet Maui—The Heart of the Lobby At the heart of the lobby stands Maui. This tiki statue, draped in fresh leis, adds a sense of history and tradition to the space. This is an excellent spot to pose by Maui for photos or simply to take in the atmosphere. Maui’s presence sets this lobby apart from any other Disney resort, making it feel special and authentic. Sound Off: Is the Polynesian Your Favorite? Nestled near the village of Belle’s cottage, Gaston’s Tavern offers more than just tasty treats—it brings the story of "Beauty and the Beast" to life, from its rustic décor to the impressive fountain of Gaston himself. The Famous Gaston Fountain – A Must-See Photo Op One of the highlights of Gaston’s Tavern is the Gaston Fountain , located right outside the tavern. This larger-than-life statue features Gaston in a heroic pose with sidekick, LeFou, at his feet. Not only is it a perfect homage to the Gaston, but it’s also one of the best places in all of Magic Kingdom to grab a memorable photo. Next time you’re in Magic Kingdom, make sure Gaston’s Tavern is on your short list of places to make a quick stop. It’s not only a great place to grab a delicious snack (Cinnamon Rolls….), but the Gaston Fountain  is one of the most Instagram-worthy spots in the park. You’ll leave not just with a satisfied stomach, but with fun photos that truly capture the magic of Disney. This battle marked the first major Civil War engagement west of the Mississippi River and the death of Brigadier General Nathaniel Lyon, the first Union general to fall in combat during the war. Visiting this battlefield allows you to step back in time, walking the fields where these pivotal moments unfolded. Experience: Rich in History, Limited for Family Fun What’s Good: Detailed Information : The interpretive signage scattered throughout the site, like those I captured in the photos, provide in-depth information about the battle’s key moments. For history enthusiasts, this makes the visit incredibly rewarding. Authentic Experience : The battlefield has been preserved in a way that gives visitors an authentic sense of the terrain and challenges faced by soldiers. Walking the paths where soldiers once fought brings a somber understanding of the scale and intensity of the war. Visitor Center : The Visitor Center  is a great starting point for learning more about the Civil War’s broader implications in Missouri and beyond. It includes exhibits, artifacts, and a short film that helps set the stage for exploring the battlefield. Areas for Improvement: Entertainment Factor : While the battlefield is immersive in terms of historical education, it lacks in family-friendly entertainment. For younger visitors or those not deeply interested in Civil War history, there are limited interactive experiences to hold their attention. Long Walks : The battlefield covers a large area, and while this provides a full picture of the battle, it can be a bit strenuous for those with mobility issues or families with small children. It’s not the most stroller-friendly site, and there are fewer shaded areas, which may make it less enjoyable during warmer months. Lack of Interactive Displays : Compared to other historical sites, Wilson's Creek might feel a bit lacking when it comes to hands-on activities or interactive exhibits, something that could enhance the overall experience for a broader audience. Top Highlights: The Battle’s Beginning and End : Information boards, like the one I photographed, offer detailed accounts of how the Union and Confederate forces engaged. Strategic Maps and Depictions : Maps, such as the one of Sigel’s Attack , help visitors visualize the movements of troops during the battle. This is crucial for understanding the tactical decisions made by both sides. Historical Artwork : The artwork displayed on the interpretive panels brings the battle to life, illustrating the intensity of the conflict. These visuals, combined with well-researched text, make the visit both educational and thought-provoking. Wilson's Creek National Battlefield is a must-visit for those interested in Civil War history and find themselves in southwest Missouri or anyone who wants to learn more about the pivotal role Missouri played in the war. While it may not have the thrill factor needed to keep young families entertained for an extended period, it excels at providing a reflective and educational experience for adults. BEST Rated: 3.6 On the BEST Rated  scale of 0-10 we give Wilson’s Creek Battlefield a 3.6 . While it's undeniably rich in historical content, there's a limit to how much it can entertain families, especially those with young children. - Papa
